I'm growing up and I still want to be a model. Help?
Ok. of course all little girls want to be famous and rich. I just want to be known. still, even at 13.i need to make some choices soon for high shcool and college. I want to make a lot of money so im planning to become a phycatrist (im smart but not that smart). or maybe a chef. but mostly a model. i have some pretty good qualities considering all my backgrounds. Im bosnian, so i can cook. I've had great schools so im smart. but i also live in america so i have options. but i dont want that to just be an unreachable dream. I would love to become a model. all my cousins think im photogenic naturally. aka: i dont know when they're taking a picture of me. i dont have any pictures to show but i am a little darker than olive tone. no acne. Almond shaped eyes with high, soft cheek bones. my braces will come off in 1 month so i will have perfect teeth. and my lips are sort of heart shaped. my natural hair is dark brown/black. im a little fatter than i should be so i want to lose weight and i have in a healthy way. i love having pictures of me and i love cute new colorful fashions that people think are too out there. i can work great with my surrondings. (i know i sound over confident and conceited). i'd like to know any famous agency that might take me. im wondering if im too young for modeling. but the worst problem is...i live in iowa and we dont have a lot of money to send me into that buisness. what you think is areopostale we think is Dolce and Gabbana. any help please?

you need to find an agency close to your area, or your nearest city
you need to build a portfolio of things you can do, or just a headshot, bodyshot, one smileing, and one not

Yes... you are too young to become involved in modeling. Please give it time. Wait until you are 16 or so. You'll be more physically matured by then.
lol
I think people might have a problem with your arrogance and attitude, however, that's what it takes to be a model..

Sounds like you are gorgeous!
Well you can always send pictures out to agencies (look them up online for addresses). They like black and white shots of you without makeup and without really stylized hair. If you're heavy, you'd need to slim first, but I don't think dieting is really appropriate for a 13-year-old. You probably have some baby fat left, which will go away on its own. Eat well, don't starve yourself. Maybe wait a few years.
In the meantime, maybe see if any stores need models for catalog work or print ads? That may be more local and more reasonable for your age.
Whatever you do, don't put other aspects of your learning, socializing, and development on hold for a dream that is potentially many years off. If it happens, your confidence will serve you well. Being rejected and turned down can be brutal, esp. when hearing critical remarks about your appearance. Be aware that breaking into any industry can be difficult, but something that depends on your physical presentation can be especially hurtful.
You DO realize that psychiatrist means going to medical school, right? That means not making a lot of money for MANY years. Explore more options and enjoy life before choosing a career!
janelle...;)
hey!
well the best advice that i can give you is just wait till you r at least 15 to do anything major. there are two reasons for this. 1. you will be a little older and more mature, this industry makes girls grow up very fast, so its good to come in and have a sense of who you are and what you want to achieve. 2. puberty has been around for a while now. you should have an idea by then of what your natural weight and body type is. some models who start out very young have thin but child-like builds. so when they hit puberty it becomes a constant battle with their body, and being healthy and projecting a healthy image is very hard to do when your body just wont allow it. for now, just eat healthy and wait. but you can do some research about the industry while your waiting. Look at iconic designers and past models. For example, if you dont know who Twiggy is or Steven Meisel of Linda Evangelista, you better hit the books. Then, when the time comes, you'll be ready! good luck!
