Need help with pregnancy ultrasound results!any experienced midwife or people who understand scan results?
I just want to know if there is anything wrong,with my baby or something.The guy who did my ultrasound said my baby was healthy,but i cant understand the results i got from the radiology,please help!
FINDINGS:
Their is a live intrauterine singleton pregnancy.The presentation is cephalic.
BPD=80mm
HC=291mm
AC=283mm
FL=58mm
Fetal weight is estimated as 1.8kg +/-15%
Suboptimal views of fetal brain anatomy (cerebellum and lateral ventricle)due to maternal body habitus and fetal position,otherwise no obvious abnormality is found.
Liquor volume is normal.
The placenta is anterior and clear with respect to the internal os.
OPINION:
Suboptimal views of fetal brain anatomy (cerebellum and lateral ventricle)otherwise no obvious abnormality is found.
Fetal size is average for 31 weeks 2 days.However assigning gestational age in the third trimester is less accurate.
The EDD is 18 August 2009+/-2 weeks.
Should i be concerned about any abnormalitie's or defects.Is this enough proof to show results of having a full healthy baby?I'm kind of worried because my midwife measured my pregnant belly and said i was small :(...please help a girl out.I would be so greatful.Thanks
Oh yeah forgot to mention that is a scan result of 31 weeks 2 days!
Babie's heartbeat was fine and his in the right position she said,just the pregnant belly got me stumped and worrying
She just told me i measured smaller..which just got me worrying straight away with no questioning

I would guess that you have nothing to worry about if the scan showed the fetal size to be average... The suboptimal view just means that they couldn't get a clear enough picture to say for sure... but I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

i'm not an expert, but your readings pretty much looked like mine and my doctor says i'm having a very healthy baby. If there was something wrong, they WOULD tell you, I promise. The wording they use really can freak a person out, but everything looks fine. They would be able to tell at 31 weeks if your baby had any physical abnormality. Also, this far along, ultrasounds can be 17 days off of the gestational due date. My original due date was August 8th, then August 19th, and then August 14th, but i'm personally sticking with about August 10th.
Also, i'm 36 weeks pregnant, and my baby belly measures 38 weeks. If they were worried about your tummy they would say so, especially after you having an ultrasound this late in pregnancy. My doctor says some mommies have smaller babies...i just happen to have a bigger baby. What was your tummy measurement? It should be roughly around your week you're pregnant...give or take about 2 or 3 weeks because of baby size. And don't worry......one day you'll wake up, just like i did, and you'll be a huge balloon!!!

It all sounds normal if there had be anything wrong they would have had the doc talk to you. What they mean by pregnant belly a little small is that what the height of you uterus is measuring is a little small for you gestational age. Every women carries their babies differently. I was pregnant with my daughter and one month I would measure small and the next I would be bigger then normal it depends on the babies position and the fluid level but if they did not tell you anything was wrong just breathe and enjoy the thought of have a new baby. Believe I am my son is due in three weeks.

All i can translate is
HC (head circumference) =approx 29cm
AC (abdominal circumference) approx 28cm
FL (femur length approx 5.8 cm.
weight 1.8kg =4lbs
suboptimal (not a clear view due to fetal position) of the brain appears normal.
amniotic fluid normal
placenta is anterior meaning is is at the front of your tummy.
average measurements for 31+2 weeks although it's less accurate to pinpoint a due date in the 3rd trimester.
Yes i think you have enough proof you are having a healthy baby congrats!.

ps your midwife measured your fundal height ie pubc bone to top of uterus.
Everyones different don't worry, i measured 4weeks ahead and my baby was only 6lb 14oz.
Your baby is already approx 4lbs!!

When i was pregnant with my son he messured to small the whole time by 10 days even though i knew when i got pregnant he was bore 12 days after his first due date 7.14lb and very healthy. Try not to worry to much im sure they would tell you if there was some thing to be worried about
